Happy Monday! Today marks exactly 8 weeks until the Boston Marathon which means it’s really time to buckle down and focus on my miles, nutrition and sleep. It also means I’m behind on my marathon training updates, but I did train as best as I could and caught the flu again (this time Flu B). Here is how all that went:
Week 7- January 27th-Feb 2nd
- Monday- 4 miles at 8:00 pace and a 2.5 mile walk while Summer was at soccer
- Tuesday- 3.1 mile run at 8:08 pace and weight training
- Wednesday- My 39th Birthday- Bridge repeats- 5.9 miles (I made a joke this day that I should be coming down with the flu again because the last time I did bridge repeats I caught it. Guess I jinxed myself.)
- Thursday-3.1 miles at 9:06 pace- starting to feel flu symptoms
- Friday-FLU B
- Saturday- FLU B
- Sunday- FLU B
Week Total- 16.1 oops
Decided not to run while I had the flu this time since last time it sent me to urgent care. Also decided to take next week somewhat easy to make sure I actually recovered this time.
Week 8- Feb 3rd– 9th
- Monday- 3.1 at 8:44 pace and walking at soccer
- Tuesday- 3.1 miles with Jesse in the stroller at 9:08 pace

- Wednesday- 3 miles at 8:40 pace
- Thursday- 17 mile long run at 8:44pace (was heading out of town and wanted to get it over with because I wasn’t sure what the running conditions would be like in Tennessee.)
- Friday-3.1 miles in Columbia, SC on my way up to Tennessee
- Saturday-3.1 miles at 8:32 pace in Sevierville, TN to celebrate my sister Ali’s, birthday.

- Sunday- off Super Bowl Sunday
Week Total- 32.5
Week 9- Feb 10th– 16th
- Monday-Feeling rough after Super Bowl Sunday and a 10 hour drive back home from TN
- Tuesday- 3.1 miles at 8:15 pace- signed up for the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon with Sarah :). runDisney, we’re coming back!

- Wednesday- 9 miles at 8:27 pace
- Thursday- 4 miles at 7:37 pace while the girls were at piano
- Friday- 3.1 miles Happy Valentine’s Day
- Saturday- 14 miles at 8:44 pace. Felt pretty terrible all week. Tripped on a cat toy in the middle of the night on Monday when Jesse came into my room crying. Fell on my elbow, ribs, hip and knee. Think I bruised half of my body lol. This was supposed to be 19 miles but I didn’t feel like it.
- Sunday- off
Week Total- 33.2
Week 10- Feb 17th– 23rd
- Monday- 4 miles at 7:24 pace (8:03, 7:40, 7:20, 7:01, 6:56) and walking at soccer
- Tuesday- 3.1 miles with Jesse in the stroller. My Dad’s birthday!

- Wednesday- 7.4 bridge repeats (3 mile warm up, 6 up the bridge, 6 down the bridge, cool down to my car)
- Thursday-4 miles at 8:09 pace
- Friday- 20 miles at 8:37 pace. I knew I had a soccer game and birthday parties on Saturday, so long run Friday it was. I felt surprisingly good during this. Took a GU gel at mile 5, 10 and 15. Didn’t drink very much water and because of that I had a terrible headache all night.

- Saturday-3.1 at 8:08 pace
- Sunday- off
Week Total- 41.6 (Biggest training week so far!)
I’m happy that I got one 20 mile run under my belt. I have two more 20 milers before the actual marathon. This weekend, on Saturday, we have the Gate Rive Run! Alex and Sarah are going to run it too, so it should be a pretty fun time. I’m supposed to run 12 miles that day. That should be easy since the race is a 15K (9.3 miles) and with a warm up and cool down I should be set. I haven’t decided what pace I’m going. It will definitely be marathon pace or faster, just having figured how much faster that should be!
I’ll be filming at the expo and race, and of course I’ll write a race recap when I get a chance!
Thank you for reading!
Until next time!
