Boston Marathon Training Update- Weeks 11-16

Happy Sunday! Yesterday I finished a FIFTY MILE WEEK! That seems nuts to me since I can’t remember the last time I hit that kind of mileage. It was probably sometime in college, but that feels like a lifetime ago. I surprisingly don’t feel completely spent- I’m taking that to mean I’m headed in the right direction with my training. Week Total- 50 miles

Tomorrow marks 3 weeks until the Boston Marathon. As far as long runs go, I only have a 10 mile and a 12 mile run left. The rest of the runs are 6 miles or less. As far as Boston planning, I have officially decided on my race outfit. I did my last two 20 milers with no chafing issues in it. The shorts I chose have deep pockets that can fit ample gels and my cell phone. I plan to run with my Nathan water bottle which also has a zippered pouch that I can fit more gels in- thanks Sarah! I’m going to wear my Sprints hat that Sarah also gave me. Alex bought me the Shokz Boston Marathon Open Run Pro 2s and I plan to wear those during the race too.  I’m also going to wear the same shoes I wore for the GRR and the WDW Half Marathon because I had no issues with them.

As far as fun stuff to do while we are in Boston, we are planning to go see the Red Sox play, we have dinner reservation for the night before the race and are going to go to the Boston Tea Party Museum and walk the Freedom Trail. Since the Sunday before the race is Easter, we are planning to go to church that morning. I wanted to go to the Samuel Adams Brewery and go on the brewery tour, but it looks like you have to be 21 years or older to do that. Since we’ll have the kids, maybe we’ll just go to the tap house instead? I’m still researching fun things to do in Boston. If anyone has any suggestions of kid friendly, fun things to do, please let me know!

Thanks for reading!
