Well, these two weeks were a little less stressful as far as family issues are concerned. The initial shock and grief you feel when a family member gets a devastating diagnosis is overwhelming. Now that is over with, we are now working on finding the right treatments and navigating a new life with my mom. The stress unfortunately was replaced with lingering sickness from my worst Christmas present- the flu. I had trouble kicking the flu and think because I kept training I made it come back. I had to shut down one day and go to Urgent Care. Overall, I was able to keep the training going and even ran a half marathon at Walt Disney World!
Week 3- December 30th-Jan 5th
Feeling pretty darn sick this week. Decided to keep trying to train, although I knew it wasn’t wise. I’m sure I’m not the only one that gets like this. It’s hard for me to take rest when I know it’s what my body needs.
- Monday- 3 very easy miles 9:20 pace and 1.25 bike ride with the girls

- Tuesday-6 miles at 8:43 pace to end out the year. Ran 1269 miles in 2024!
- Wednesday- 3.1 at 8:45 pace. Had to run on New Year’s Day. Also, didn’t drink for NYE (don’t remember having a drink free New Year’s Eve besides being pregnant ha!) I’m also a sucker for the Garmin badges!

- Thursday- 4 miles at 8:23pace and weight lifting and 2 mile bike ride with the kids
- Friday- 6 miles run at marathon pace 7:40
- Saturday- 13.1 long run at 8:30 pace
- Sunday- Weight lifting and family walk after dinner
Week total: 35.2
Week 4- Jan 6th-12th
- Monday-Bridge Repeats (about 400 meters up hard-ish and 400 down x 4) 5 miles and weight training and bike ride with the kids

- Tuesday-3.1 at 8:50 pace. Fever and body aches started to come back. Felt like I was getting the flu again.
- Wednesday-Fever, body aches and chills back in full force. Went to Urgent Care and got breathing treatment, Z-pack and steroid shot in the butt! Went to bed at 7pm ha!

- Thursday-3.1 miles pushing Jesse in the stroller at 6:00am despite the Urgent Care doctor telling me to not run anymore this week. I’m stubborn, ok?
- Friday-3 miles at marathon pace, kind of, in my new shoes I just bought-Asics Superblast 2. It’s recommended you do a tempo type run in them before a race. (Just not the day before. Do as I say, not as I do.)

- Saturday- If you asked me on Wednesday if I would have made it here to Disney World to run a half marathon I would have cried and laughed in your face. Anyway, I ran the Walt Disney Half Marathon in 1:39:02 which is 7:26 pace. I decided a few years ago to start counting post-baby PRs instead of chasing my high school and college glory days. This was a pretty good post-baby PR for me, and given my malady this week I’m pretty proud of my accomplishment. I also gambled with wearing new shoes on race day and came out on top. I think I found my new racing shoe!

- Sunday- 2 miles easy with my husband to try and make up for Wednesday’s malfeasance. We ran the .9 loop around Coronado Springs. This resort at Walt Disney World is beautiful. If you are interested in our room tour check out our YouTube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruoZ1HqZayg&t=12s
Week total: 29.3
I’ll be posting a Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend recap soon!
